Rug Cleaning and Care
Most carpet manufacturers recommend that your rugs be professionally cleaned
every six months to a year, depending on the amount of traffic. Vacuum regularly,
with either an upright or canister style vacuum. If you sprinkle salt on your
carpet before vacuuming and then let sit for an hour, the carpet will be brighter
when the vacuuming is done. Pay extra attention to heavy traffic areas. Regular
maintenance will help your carpets to last longer.

Some Helpful Hints

- Spilled grease or oils can be absorbed
by cornmeal or baking soda. Leave overnight and vacuum.
- Never try
to steam-clean silk carpeting. If you're lucky enough to have such a luxurious
carpet, have it professionally dry cleaned.
- Sponge club soda on carpet
to remove most fresh stains.
- Blot liquid spills with a clean cloth
that has no colour.
- Rotate your rug every six months to alter the traffic
pattern.
- Use a rug pad under all rugs – this will help keep your
rug in place and also save the life of your rug.
- Keep your family
safe by making sure that rug corners do not extend into high traffic areas.
